![]() *Shout out to Franklin who was pool maintenance and Elvis managing the pool. (Easy to spot him as my guy is bald and covered in tattoos) the fact they knew though was brilliant. It was regular and they were so careful for my partner who is 5yrs sober to make sure every staff knew not to put alcohol in his drink. We genuinely miss you all! These guys worked hard, 8am till 6pm, walking round the sun lounger’s, got drink orders and knew which belonged to who. *Alejandro, Nelis, Eloy, Jefry and Carlos David were great, they looked after us too throughout but if they weren’t near where we sat they made the effort to always say hello each day. So a massive special thanks to Junior (worked the pool bar) always a smile and made the best purple rain cocktails *Javier and Jensy who looked after us the most, i think we must’ve been chilling in their section as we saw them most - you guys were just fantastic! Got to know us and our drink orders, made time for a quick chat, (Thank you guys for being some awesome!). Pool The preffered pool, oh my what a place to place to relax and fantastic service! The staff were phenomenal. Was a great room, clean, tidy and just what we needed. If he saw us about he made sure to say Hi and check in on how it was going. Abraham was our Butler and he was impeccable all the time, so friendly and helpful. We had a fabulous time, we ended up when we arrived upgrading to preffered club, mainly so we could use the adult only pool, some specific bars (Julio was the barman there) and made use of the butler service provided l, to help us with reserving dinner and some amenities. I don’t know if it was the transition from Onyx to Dreams or if the overall brand has gone down, but it was a 3-star resort. Overall - We would not recommend the resort and would not go back. No, we didn’t starve, but the options and taste were not good. Thankfully we could order it from the preferred menu. We were there by 7:30 each morning and they had often run out of bacon. There was only one kind of cereal that was a cornflake/rice crispy combo and not very good. The buffet didn’t offer a lot of selection, particularly at breakfast. The pizzas at Capers were basically cheese with a couple random toppings thrown on. Oftentimes what you got was vastly different from what was stated on the menu. Food - The best restaurants were Mercure and The Bluewater Grill. There was a spot closer to Breathless where you could snorkel and see fish. It wasn’t the white sand, calm water we are used to, but my kids enjoyed using the boogie boards. ![]() Beach - The beach was ok and best suited to older kids as the waves could be a bit rough. The water park bar also has the nicest staff. The water slides and lazy river were the highlight of the resort and there were always chairs to be found. The main pool was oddly laid out and overly loud. The family preferred pool was a joke since you were basically in someone’s swim-up room. Pools/Water Park - The adults only preferred pool was by far the best pool, but we were there as a family so couldn’t use it. The toilet paper holder was broken, there was mold in the shower, and rust on the floor and mirrors. While the view itself was lovely, the room was dirty and damp. Rooms - We were in building 5, preferred club ocean view, overlooking the main pool. This was also our second Dreams experience on the island so we felt comfortable with our expectations. ![]() This was our fourth trip to the DR, but first to Punta Cana having previous stayed in La Romana and Cap Cana. They are AMAZING! I can’t say enough about Chef Alejandro and Renzo. No ask was too big and she felt like a princess at every meal! We keep going back to this resort because of the quality of food and safety with food allergies. Chef Alejandro and Renzo took extreme care and made sure her food was always safe. When you have a child with food allergies you know that they’re safety is always a concern. The biggest thank you goes to the chefs on the resort. She remembered us as soon as we walked in! David from the Preferred pool always made the best Negroni‘s and frozen Mojito‘s! Best we’ve ever had. Stefanie from the French restaurant was wonderful as usual. Always caring and excellent service for my daughter. He made all restaurants reservations and anything we needed he was alway available! We always had great service from Oscar, Bienvenido in the restaurants. We booked the Preferred category and it’s amazing! Our butler Felix is THE BEST. The resort is stunning lots of activities but the best part of this hotel is the service. ![]() Our daughter is allergic to gluten and the Dreams Now Onyx never fails to keep her safe. It’s our 4th visit and continues to feel just like home. We went to the Dreams Onyx during Canadian spring break. ![]()
